Welcome to our walking tour of the historic Casco Antiguo, the Old Quarter of Panama City. This beautiful district was completed and settled in 1673, after the destruction of the original city in 1671 by Henry Morgan. Since 1997, it has been recognized as a World Heritage Site, thanks to the efforts of private, public, and non-profit organizations that have worked together to preserve its streets, buildings, plazas, and churches.

Join us on this tour as we explore the rich history of Casco Antiguo, spanning 350 years, and bridge the colonial era to the republican period. Our tour covers important turning points, including the independence movements, the Anfictionic Congress of 1826, the first trans-isthmic Railroad in the continent, the attempt by the French to build the Panama Canal, and the separation from Colombia.

  • The Church of Saint Joseph & its huge Nativity scene: a stunning church with our iconic Golden Altar and an impressive Nativity scene that will leave you in awe.
  • The French Plaza and Esteban Huertas Walkway: a charming plaza with a picturesque walkway lined with cafes, monuments, and a souvenir marketplace.
