The Museum of Biodiversity, also known as the Biomuseum, is one of the most iconic museums in Panama. It opened on October 2, 2014, after nearly 15 years of building its colorful, modern structure.

Renowned architect Frank Gehry designed the Biomuseum, and it was his first building in Latin America. Its location on the Amador Causeway gives everyone a fantastic view of the city and the ships passing through the Panama Canal.

This excursion will explore the highlights of Panama's natural history combined with its rich biodiversity. Its galleries tell the story of how the rise of the isthmus of Panama changed the world. At the same time, we'll look at the nation's cultural history, emphasizing the role of humans from the last ice age to the XXI century.

Finally, we'll witness the beauty of the plants and trees in the botanical garden and examine how it's an essential part of the more extensive ecological system.

While interacting with the exhibitions of the museum, we'll cover essential information, like:

• The ice age species that walked through the isthmus in the Gallery of Biodiversity.
• A three-level projection space with ten screens envelops the visitor in a display of sight and sound featuring Panama's natural wonders.
• How primordial archipelagos became the landbridge of the Americas.
• The multitude of species found in both the Pacific and Caribbean coasts of Panama are seen up close in the small aquarium.

The excursion takes approximately 2.5 hours to complete.

An included a 45-minutes master class, given at the school a few days before the excursion, will provide context and help the students get a better understanding of what they will see on the site.
